The Wedding Dress, part 2

If you read along, you'll remember that I'm working on a wedding dress for a friend of mine.

I've made a muslin that we're happy with and just got all of the fabric together for the final garment.  How exciting!

When Jen first told me about her dress, all she said was that she wanted something 50s inspired and it had to be tea length.  I immediately thought of this dress from the retired television show Brothers and Sisters.  I thought the dress that Sara wore was so beautiful.

As I was looking through Jen's Pinterest boards, she had fairly simple dresses pinned without much adorning and as we were out looking at fabrics, she was leaning towards heavy satin.  During our shopping I was asking her about her dream wedding dress, and she couldn't really answer me.  Then she began to explain that the reason she even though of a tea length dress was because "of this show that used to be on a few years ago, Brothers and Sisters..."

After that comment I threw caution to the wind and decided that I was going to make her a girly dress, with loads of flowers, just like the inspiration dress, Amsale Dahlia, and she would be the most beautiful bride.

here are some images of the muslin...

So far, I've made a muslin that we are happy with besides a tiny tweaking to the waist band and moving the shoulder straps a smidge.

To make it a bit more her style, she really wanted a bit of a funky, 50s feel so we though the peek of red crinoline would be fun!  Jen also picked out the most beautiful pair of red polka dot heels.   Anyhow, I have all of the fabrics for the final garment and am getting ready to sew it.  How exciting!  I will definitely keep you up to date on the progress.
