TOMS shoes flag-skirt refashion (and TUTORIAL)

We are huge fans of TOMS here.  Such big fans that we have developed quite a collection of flags, bags, etc from each pair of shoes that we have ordered.

I made this skirt out of two flags for Aeris way back in May for TOMS One Day Without Shoes

The project was very simple:
This skirt will fit a 2-3t, if you need a larger size, you would need more than two flags

1.  Lay the two flags, right sides together and sew one edge with a 1/4" seam.  Press the seam.

2.  Measure the length of the skirt, and double that.  Make a rectangle for double the length of the skirt, and 5" wide.  Serge both the top and bottom ends of the long strip.  Fold the strip in half, and baste the top edges.  Pull the thread taught, making a ruffle, and pin it to the bottom of the skirt.  Sew it into place.

3.  Fold the skirt in half, right sides together.  Sew the side with 1/4" seam allowance.

4.  Fold the top down about 1".  Sew around the top waistband, leaving an 1" opening for your elastic.  Meausre your child's waist and feed the elastic through.  Sew the elastic, then the waistband closed.
